HOW TO READ CLIENT STATEMENT REPORTS

1. Portfolio Summary

Portfolio Performance
This section of the cover sheet measures overall portfolio performance for a maximum of five (5) financial years (including the present). Both the current portfolio value (see Holdings History and Unrealised Gains/Losses Report for individual investment values) and the value of the portfolio at the preceding 1 July are adjusted for funds introduced and/or withdrawn in the intervening period. The growth (or decline) in value since, the previous 1 July is then calculated and expressed as a simple percentage rate of return on the 1 July value. Where appropriate, the Performance History will detail portfolio performance for the immediate past four years.

Asset Allocation
The actual Asset Allocation on your portfolio at the stated period end is presented to you in a graphical format.

2. Tax Entity Reference Report

In later sections of the reports investments are referred to by a 'short name'. The 'short name' used in respect of stocks listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) accords to ASX abbreviations. In the case of Managed investments (some of which have excessively long titles) an attempt has been made to retain the essential description within the constraints imposed by the number of characters available. This report also denotes 'ownership' of each investment for taxation purposes.

3. Holdings History and Unrealised Gains/Losses Report

A complete History of each holding including any unrealised gains or losses from Date of Purchase, is presented together with details of any income physically received in the year to date and a performance result (growth and income) for the year to date.

It should be noted that the unrealised gains (losses) recorded are nominal gains/losses and should not be confused with realised gains or losses for Capital Gains Tax (CGT) purposes.

4. Investment Income Report

Income may be received in one financial year but taxed in another. This report deals solely with the physical receipt of income and is designed to assist with cash flow planning. In the succeeding page the information is presented in graphical format.

5. Capital Gains (Losses) Summary

Capital Gains (and losses) may be realised within a managed investment by a fund manager (and distributed as part of any income distribution) or a gain or loss may be realised by the sale of a particular investment. The purpose of this report is to bring together the capital gains or losses from the various sources and present them in summary form. The summary is supported by an accompanying (where applicable) Investment Redemptions/disposals Report.

6. Cashbook

Details of all deposits and withdrawals effected through the portfolio bank account are presented in cash book format to enable reconciliation with copies of client bank statements.

7. Transaction Report

Transactions which do not effect the bank account (eg. Dividend Re-investment) and any transactions including the acquisition of disposal or investments are detailed in this report. The reason for including investment purchases and sales (which already appear in the cash book) is to avoid insufficient detail being provided where multiple purchases or sales are settled with only one transaction.
